1.BRIS: DOES PEAK OIL DEMAND AN URGENT TRANSITION TO GENUINE SUSTAINABILITY? (8 DEC.)

In view of the looming reality of Peak Oil, there is an urgent need for Brisbane and south-east Queensland to begin the transition to genuine sustainability.Peak Oil will impact directly on transport and food supply systems and will require that our suburbs become much more focussed on the local area for food production, work and social interaction than at present.

We would like to explore these issues with you at 1pm on 10 December 2005 at the Griffith University Ecocentre (at the Nathan campus in Brisbane). The purpose of the meeting is for interested groups and
individuals to discuss collaborative actions/events to increase public awareness of Peak Oil, particularly as it will affect our region. We see Peak Oil as a powerful driver for the transition to genuine sustainability.

There will be no charge for attendance and tea/coffee will be provided. Please RSVP by 8 December.

Best wishes
