IYPF Newsletter Editor

The IYPF is looking for a skilled and dedicated young professional to
take on the  Editor role for its monthly newsletter. The role will
encompass the production of the newsletter on a micro level. The role
requires the incumbent to edit and proofread all content received for
each edition and format the newsletter.

If you have excellent English, an understanding and eye for grammar,
a quick eye for editing and proofreading, and are good at formatting,
and perhaps posses desktop publishing skills, we would love to hear
from you.

The role will require about 2-3 hours per week, with workload heavier
towards the end of each month in the lead up to the publishing of the
newsletter.

You will be working as part of the IYPF's Communications Team, which
includes the Communications Team Leader, a Content Producer who is
responsible for sourcing and managing the overall Newsletter process,
a Web Content officer, and a writing team.

1.VOLUNTEERS FOR BORNEO NEEDED – JULY [BORNEO]

Happy New Year and Happy Valentine's Day!

We are currently trying to recruit volunteers for our upcoming Borneo expedition in July. The expedition will help with drain reconstruction and environmental maintenance in local villages and remote communities. OzQuest is after 20 enthusiastic volunteers aged 18-30 to come on the expedition. It will also be a chance for to climb South East Asia's highest peak - Mt. Kinabalu. If you know someone (or you are that someone!) who would like to be part of a great expedition, helping remote communities in a truly inspiring environment, this is for you.

OzQuest is a non-profit program run as a project of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Victoria. It aims to inspire young people aged 18-30 through challenging expeditions that involve adventure, science and volunteering.

2. ENYA'S MICRO FINANCE FUND LAUNCH [AUSTRALIA]

Supporting young entrepreneurs entering the business world The Enterprise Network for Young Australians (ENYA) is proud to introduce Australia's first system of interest free micro loans to young people wishing to establish a business as part of the ENYA Micro Finance Fund. The Micro Finance Fund will be conducted as a pilot initiative.

ENYA has been selected by Youth Business International (YBI) as their Australian Pilot project.YBI is a unit of The Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum that helps disadvantaged young people realise their ambitions to become entrepreneurs.

About Micro Finance:
ENYA´s Micro Finance Fund has been developed specifically to support young entrepreneurs, aged between 16-24 years, entering the business world by offering:
§A grant of up to $2,500 expressly for the purchase of capitalequipment.
§Completely interest free loans.
§Access to wide network of support services including a toll free advice line, an on-line forum for young entrepreneurs and free access to business information.
§A free business start-up kit.
§Access to the Youth and Enterprise Legal Centre, another of ENYA´sinitiatives, which can help you with many of the legal matters associated with starting a business on a reduced-fee basis.

To Apply:
To be eligible to apply for a loan, each applicant will need to satisfy the following requirements:
§Must be over the age of 16.
§Must not currently be in business.
§Must demonstrate sound business planning skills, or the potential to develop these skills.
§Be highly motivated and committed to establishing a sustainable business.

Application Kit:
Access to the Micro Finance Fund application kit is available from the ENYA website or can be mailed to you if requested. The application kit includes:

More than 60 per cent of women released from prison return to prison. That is a 60 per cent failure rate. According to Debbie Kilroy, if any of our other big institutions or government departments ran those kinds of figures, they would be shut down. Debbie Kilroy was jailed for drug trafficking in 1989. She was released in 1992 and established "Sisters Inside" to promote the human rights of women in the criminal justice system. In 2003, she received an Order of Australia Medal, won the national community section of the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year award, and in 2004 won the national human rights medal. Debbie will be talking about her work and the role of prisons in society.

Bonjour chers tous,

Du 10 au 16 avril se tiendra à Dakar au Sénégal la deuxième conférence des jeunes contre la faim AYCAH 2006. Cette conférence réunira prés de 300 jeunes activistes autour de 4 axes que sont :

- l'agriculture et le commerce
- le SIDA et la sécurité alimentaire
- les OMD
- les jeunes en situation de conflits

AYCAH 2006 ira au delà des sentiers battus et des discours creux pour créer un impact durable et inaugurer le champs de l’action et de l’innovation sociale. Ainsi, elle se fixe les objectifs suivants :

§ Contribuer à une meilleure prise de conscience sur les enjeux liés à la faim et à l’insécurité alimentaire en Afrique

§ Propulser les jeunes comme acteurs clé dans la lutte contre la pauvreté en Afrique

§ Attirer l’attention des décideurs politiques sur la situation de millions d’Africains quotidiennement menacés par la famine et l’insécurité alimentaire

§ Inspirer et outiller davantage les participants dans leur combat contre la faim et la pauvreté en Afrique à travers des techniques de plaidoyer

§ Rappeler aux décideurs politiques l’engagement pris à travers les Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement afin de réduire la pauvreté de moitié d’ici 2015

§ Offrir aux jeunes une plate-forme unique d’échanges et de partage sur les bonnes pratiques et les stratégies efficaces de lutte contre la faim et la pauvreté et enfin

§ Mettre en place le réseau des jeunes contre la faim pour la mise en oeuvre et le suivi des actes de la rencontre.

Nous invitons les participants qui se trouvent hors du Sénégal et de la Gambie à s'inscrire le plus tôt possible. Les frais d'hébergement, de restauration ainsi que le transport une fois sur place (Dakar) sont à la charge de l'organisation.

Les billets d'avions ne sont pas pris en charge.

Hello Dear all,

The second African Youth Conference Against Hunger (AYCAH) will be held in Dakar -Senegal from 10th to 16th April 2006. 300 partcipants are expected to attend this important event which will offer the opportunity to young people to discuss around 4 main themes :

- International trade, local agriculture
- HIV/AIDS and food security
- MDGs
- Youth in conflicts

AYCAH 2006 will depart from the beaten tracks of empty rhetoric. The conference will seek sustainable impact and will definitely be oriented towards both action and innovation. That is why its objectives are defined as follows:

§ Contribute to the effort to get millions of Africans out of the chains of hunger and poverty

§ Support and position the African youth as key actors in the struggle against poverty.

§ Raise the awareness of decision makers on the need for urgent action against the situation of millions of Africans daily threatened by hunger and food insecurity.

§ Contribute to better social justice in the world.

§ significantly contribute to the effort to reach the Millennium Development Goals in Africa.

§ Provide a unique platform for youth networking and showcase of good practices and strategies against hunger and poverty.

§ Set up a conference follow-up network to make sure the resolutions of the meeting will be implemented.

We invite all participants except those coming from Senegal and the gambia to register as soon as possible, deadline is fixed up to 05th of april. We are taking care of the accomodation, restoration and local transport fees (once in Dakar).

Flight tickets are in charge of participants.

Newsletter Coordinator
Role is to collate articles and information from writers and staff for the IYPF´s monthly newsletter. Following this is the editing and the formatting of the newsletter. Fluent English is a must.

Make Poverty History Liaison Coordinator
This involves coordinating with MPH campaigns around the world, ensuring communication to our networks about key information and opportunities, and ensuring our information gets to MPH groups.

Memberships Administrator (Australia / New Zealand residents only)
This role is responsible for adding new member details to the database; managing membership payments; and responding to membership information queries.

Partnerships Team Members
We are currently looking for people to join our Partnerships Team.They will stay in contact with potential partner organizations,collate databases, research organizations etc

Member Projects Assistant
Currently, 8 Member Projects Assistants are working within our Implementations team. We need one more to deal with internal communications (e.g. managing communications amongst the team,initiating and encouraging group discussions with leaders of approved projects, and developing and maintaining a resource database for use with project leaders of IYPF approved projects). We are hoping for someone who can check and respond to emails at least 3 times per week.
